Why Lognitiv?

“The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled” – Plutarch

We have already been on a long learning journey – starting as a child in elementary school, as a teenager in high school and as an adult at university and in professional life – it’s basically a never-ending story!

We have seen different approaches to learning and teaching at school and university – some more successful than the others.

We have found that the emphasis is very much on completing a subject or course and less on understanding and meaningful learning.

We have both been through higher education, and Rebecca has only recently re-enrolled at university after completing her first degree 8 years ago, and we have found that there is still a gap in teaching metacognition and the use of learning strategies. Basically, it’s about teaching how to learn to learn.

So we asked ourselves how we can support students to learn to learn in higher education. How can we enable students to use their superpower – metacognition?

Metacognition is the awareness or analysis of one’s own learning, thinking processes and learning strategies one is using.

With Lognitiv we are enabling students to utilize their metacognition, get to know their learning process, shape their own learning DNA and boost their academic performance and gain a life-long skill for learning.
